The Program offered is an academic one directed to College or University Entrance but equipping the boys to enter the business world. All students take a Core Program of Religious Knowledge, English Language, English Literature, and Mathematics. Forms One and Two Programs additionally consist of General Science, History, Geography, Social Studies, French, Spanish, Music, Art, Physical Education and Information Technology . In Form Three students are introduced to the three pure sciences of Chemistry, Physics and Biology - subsequent course selections are based on their performance. The Forms Four and Five programs include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Integrated Science, Information Technology, Bookkeeping, Principles of Accounts, Principles of Business, Office Administration History, Geography, Social Studies, French, Spanish and Technical Drawing. In the first three Forms the Program is compulsory; in the last two Forms a student must take the Core Program , one Science and any four other subjects according to need or education goal.
Our Summer School Program in July caters to the borderline weak academic students.
The Activity Periods enable the students to be exposed to even more areas such as the Glee club, Softball cricket, Field games, Board games, Spanish and French clubs, Computer club, Journalism, Science club, Horticulture and more subject to availability.
Our extra-curricular activities include inter and extra mural games consisting of Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Cricket, Athletics, some of which are played competitively with other schools. Our Sport Day has all students on parade with marching and house competitions. We also have an active Association of parents, Old Boys and special friends.
Involvement in Church related activities is encouraged. An Outreach Program is in place to develop a sense of sharing. Our Christmas Carol Service includes students, teachers parents and friends in the choir.
The school fosters a strong cultural activity of song, dance, steel pan and other musical instruments. A Concert and Fine Arts competitions is held annually.
The campus consists of three blocks of classrooms, a science building, a cafeteria and cover sitting area, a basketball/volleyball/tennis court, a games field and a smaller playing field. In addition to the science labs, the school has a library/resource center, a computer room, all appropriately equipped. Toilet and shower facilities are also present.
Students normally enter our First Form at age 10+ with a School Entrance Examination. More than twice the number of students that we can accept take that Examination. Entrance into any of the other Forms is determined by availability of space, academic standing of the boy in his present school, suitability of the Program available and the Entrance Examination which may or may not be waived. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, we will not accept a new student into Form Five.
There are approximately 270 students enrolled at St. Joseph's Academy with a staff of twenty men and women. Each form has two classes of twenty to thirty-five boys depending on the Form or Subject.
